During the month of August, Richard Hicks, watercolorist, will be working in The Gallery on Monday and Thursday mornings at 10 am.  AND  Roy Kramlich, mixed media, will be working in the classroom on Fridays and Saturdays.

Tuesday, August 26th and Wednesday, August 27th   auditions for "The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild" , a comedy, will be held 6:30 to 8 pm in the Matthews Opera House.  For more information call the director Max G. Merchen at 722-1209. 

September 5 from 5-9 pm. Learn to make a bowl!  Free throwing lessons  at Dykstra Pottery Studio.   All ages welcome - 12 and under with an adult.  All bowls will be donated to the October 16th benefit for the local food pantries at the Deadwood Social Club.  

Friday, September 5th from 5 to 7 pm the Spearfish Arts Center will be hosting a fundraising event in the Matthews Opera House for the Spearfish Arts Center and Nyla Griffith, Lawrence County District 31 State Senate Candidate. 

Friday, September 5th from 5 to 7 pm the Spearfish Arts Center Gallery will host an Artist Reception for Steve Babbitt and Richard Hicks. 

Wednesday, September 10 th from noon to 1 pm Paul Higbee will be the guest speaker for the Bellman Brown Bag Series.  His topic will be "Black Hills State University 125th Anniversary"

Thursday, September 18th from 3:30  to 4:30pm Lisa Howard will teach a free mosaic class for children grades 3 and up in the Spearfish Arts Center Classroom. RSVP to 642-7973 **Thank you to Versatile Carpets for providing the supplies for the class!

In cooperation with Arts Midwest, the Spearfish Arts Center is proud to present the 2008 World Fest Tour. During the week of September 22 through 27th, 2008 the Mexican group Los Utrera will be performing workshops in the area schools with a cabaret style public performance on September 27th  at 7 pm in the Matthews Opera House. Tickets are $10.00 at the door and can be purchased in advance at The Gallery.

Thursday, September 25 from 4-7 pm  The Gallery will host an exhibition and book signing  for two area artists, Bruce Roseland, Seneca and Marie Tesch, Rapid City. 

October 4th is the date of this year's Fall Gala.  This popular benefit includes a live art auction, a silent auction, food from the Bay Leaf Cafe and entertainment provided by Steve Thorpe. The Gala will begin at 6 pm with the live auction starting at 7 pm. Mark your calendars.  Tickets are $25 per person or 2 for $40. Keep watching for more information!

October 10,11,12 & 17,18,19 & 24,25,26, the Spearfish Arts Center Community Theatre will present "The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild", a comedy, by Paul Zindel and directed by Max G. Merchen.

November 14th is tha date of the Annual Wine Tasting. You will not want to miss this exciting evening of wine, art and entertainment.  Mark you calendars!  More information will come soon!

The 2008 Festival in the Snow  will be held at the Spearfish Convention Center on November 22 and 23rd.  More information and an application to be a vendor can be found on our Festival in the Snow page.

December 12,13,14 & 19,20,21 the Spearfsh Arts Center Community Theatre in conjuction with Black Hills State University will present  the operetta "Amahl and the Night Visitors" by Glan Carlo Menotti.  Please watch for more information!

The  8th Annual Christmas High Tea will be held Saturday, December 20th from 11am to 1 pm.  There will be one seating only -limited seating available.  For reservations call 642-7973 Ext. 5
